Bought an Ibis Hakkalugi Cross Bike 5-6 years ago off of Ebay - beautiful bike, hardly used - came with Hermes Sport deep carbon clinchers. A little flashy for me, and I noticed what I remember as a large warp in the carbon as I gave em a spin - also remember them as rubbing. Put em away. Decided to give em away today - free, but checked em out anyways. For the life of me, I can't find the warp. Inflated the tires up to 160 thinking the pressure might press the carbon apart at the beads. Nothing. They look great. Maybe 2mm out of true, but no bulge or warping. I'm super excited, as my health is coming back and now I've got some deep wheels to play with this Spring after I finish with this skate skiing - which is kicking my ass, but I am able to do multiple intense skis without the fatigue and sickness I was getting the last 4-5 years. Knock on wood ; ) Any ideas that I might have forgot in checking these wheels out this time or could it all have been in my head? Ain't much else occupying that space ; )

Huck, no advice on the wheels, but far more important - welcome back to the the land of the living!

I had a much smaller welcome back last summer. I've had a string of weird "allergies" that I assumed would go to the grave with me ever since I built boats and worked with harsh chemicals more than 30 years ago. Allergies and "allergies" to wool, tobacco, many different solvents including some very common ones. Required showers every night before bed. "Allergies" to people and especially their pheromones. (That one did not play out well in my marriage!)

Allergies in quotations because Portland's esteemed allergy specialist told me after I passed his series of skin test with no more than a few common (and minor) allergies that developing reactions to many of these substances that the body cannot physically be an allergy. He then prescribed me a cortisone inhalant to treat the symptoms that has made a big difference in my quality of life and that I used daily for decades.

Last May I had my first physical with my new primary care; a young (at least to me) nurse with a lot of initials (and very sharp). At the close she commented on me talking about these reactions in the past and that I was pretty sure this was from acetone and the dissolved polyester resins coming in through my skin and going to my liver. Did I want to try an alternative medicine liver cleansing? It would be a mini chemo and might have some side effects. 3 months. I said yes immediately. She sent me home with two bottles. One of each a day, going to two in a week if no adverse symptoms. First month and last two weeks I felt nothing. Over the middle span I started feeling worse, immune system barely functioning and Ben becoming a total spacecase. Not a lot of fun. Just before the symptoms started to die down I started noticing that many of my curses weren't happening. I got my body back! Challenge now is learning how live in a normal body and therefore what rituals can I now let go of and reclaim a little more time (and money). I've forgotten how to live normally. It's been that long.

Enjoy your health. Enjoy your riding!

Based on the thread title I thought the post was related to the “current occupant”.

I would have posted a pic, but PhotoBucket now charges for the service.

There's a photo of the wheels on my Lynskey that I posted yesterday on my Instagram account - and they do look badazz...
