Hi I'm a student at Southampton Solent University looking into doping in cycling for my dissertation on my Sports journalism degree. If you have a moment please take my survey below: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/QWNYQKL Also if you have any suggestions for good books or documentaries to read up on please let me know. I've already read up on the obvious ones by David Walsh and the secret race. I've also watched the Armstrong Lie but if there's any others that you can suggest feedback would be great. Thanks, Peter Davies

Good luck with your dissertation.
The "is there more doping in cycling than other sports?" question left me a bit confused: Yes there surely is more doping in cycling than in some other sports (e.g., curling), but on the other hand no more than in the NFL. So I answered no, but not sure if that's what you meant.
An interesting question to ask:
Q: Do you think cycling is beating itself up more than other sports about doping.
A: Yes

my answers are about the same for many sports. The drugs they take might be different but doping exists in every sport if there is a drug that can improve performance. Shooters use Beta Blockers. Your survey seem like it is asking too simple questions that would result in cycling has a doping problem. Well that is hardly new. At best you are writing a fluff piece and there are plenty enough articles on doping in cycling written by wet behind the ears journalist students. Nothing in your survey will add new knowledge and at best is an op ed by a newby. find something new to say or get a different subject. Most of these articles could just change the name of the sport and say the same thing. Find something new to say or your article will just get lost in a sea of cycling has a doping problem articles.
I am hoping for something original and fresh if you are hoping for anyone to notice.

What Master50 said. Rather than taking first steps toward copycat journalism (one of the bigger problems when it comes to doping in sport; not enough in-depth and crititical investigations), have a read through some of the wada reports on doping problem and pick a topic from those. Some possible angles:

Thanks for the feedback guys.

The survey is only a really small part of my dissertation and don't worry it won't be published as it's purely academic.

I watched a German doc that studies the fact why their main sports channels haven't broadcasted the TDF since 2011. Link here: http://cyclingtips.com.au/2014/11/the-hardest-stage-documentary-on-doping-in-german-cycling/ - the graphs in this are a rough basis of my survey.

Simple questions are easy to put into results. If it was open ended questions I can't draw a proper conclusion.

I'm looking into a lot of WADA reports and the Team Sky ethos too. So it's not all jumping on the wagon.

Good to see fans not standing for mediocre writing. Have no fear this is a very small part of my research.

Many thanks again for replying

Germans are funny and a bit extreme in everything they do. Telekom hit them hard so German TV overreacted by taking Tour off the tube, and now just as they were about to put it back on the likes of Martin, Degenkolb and Kittel are screaming hard about what a farce the Astana decision is.

Meanwhile no in-depth thinking from German news about the wider picture of doping in their other sports. They might look into Healing Hans for a bit. Depending on who you believe he's either a miracle doctor when it comes to injury recovery or he's an exceedingly shady character whose clientelle puts Ferrari and Fuentes to shame. http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/7324261/germany-dr-hans-wilhelm-muller-wohlfahrta-great-healer-quack-hyperactive-syringe
