Have any of you been long time Facebook users and gotten off and maintained your connections and friendships? I'm looking to do so, but don't want to lose contact with folks. Any and all ideas much appreciated!

If you get to season 3 of that Spanish show I recommended on FB you'll know the answer.

Some of the original mobile phones without internet or GPS and tracking will make sure you cannot be found. You'll need a stash of burner phones to rotate through.

What was the name of the show again? I'll add it to my queue right now.

I stopped posting on FB a few months back and kept my page just in case, but the further I got away from it, the less I went back.

I understand the need to have access as some people, businesses and services have made themselves only available on FB.

My MacBook just crashed after being ill for several months - a fatal blow, and I only had FB on that computer - now I have no choice but to stay off as I made it impossible for myself to recover my password - somewhat on purpose as a way to permanently get off.

To be honest, in the end, or at least to this point, it has done me more harm than good to be on there.

Good luck.

P.S. I made sure that before I signed off that I had all the contacts to the people that really mattered and I also connected with them and more on LinkedIn.

"I made sure that before I signed off that I had all the contacts to the people that really mattered and I also connected with them and more on LinkedIn." That is exactly what I am doing now.

I deactivated my FB account and am now in the process of connecting with people elsewhere.

Expect more of me here! (Not sure if that is a good/bad thing? :-))

Hi Dave. For our club we use Slack. Like say Twitter or FB you can have private chats or public posts but you can also have particular channels like wrenching, ride planning plus it has links to calendar for formal scheduling etc. I believe we are using free version. Much better for club organization than Twitter or FB. No reason it couldn't be used for this group here, for family or otherwise.

I have never gotten on FB....thank god. I wasted enough time on the old VN site and other areas. Didn't need to get sucked into the FB hellhole!!
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

Amazon remains enemy #1 for me.

FB will have to do so long as family uses it. The Social Fixer keeps it manageable.

Is this where I formally lodge a complaint about Dave still trolling us on FB with pics from Spain?
