Announced yesterday that they are merging with Peloton magazine. At first I thought that Peloton would be going away, but it is VN that will disappear.

This is undoubtedly the right decision as VN has been kinda directionless for many years, struggling to find their place in the Internet era when race results are immediate. But as someone who anxiously waited every 2 weeks for the next issue of VN to show up at the shop, this is still a major bummer.

Should be noted that VeloNews will continue as a website, but the print edition is no more.

The website has been pretty useless too. Barely visit it anymore. Meanwhile is cyclingnews disappearing behind a paywall or does one just have to sign up? Been getting a message to sign up as I read 5 article maximum?

For me anyway refuge lies in Sporza, wielerflits (CN copies a whole bunch of their content) and indeleiderstrui.

I've never seen the CyclingNews paywall. Maybe because I've never seen 5 articles worth reading at one time.

CyclingNews or CyclingTips?

CyclingTips has a monthly article limit...after that you can pay for additional articles or just subscribe. I finally paid for a subscription last month.

I kinda gave up on CyclingNews since so many of the 'articles" were just paid promotional fluff pieces....

I tried to subscribe to CT when they were running a special last month but the payment portal wasn't functioning correctly. That's the only site I'll pay for, although it's pretty pricey if not discounted.

The writers at CT are really good.

I just did the subscription for access to all the articles....don't see the value in the VeloClub membership. I don't need / want direct access to the editors / writers, etc. Just let me read the articles I want.

Now if they did the combo of a VeloClub membership w/ Strava Premium again, I would consider that....but for now, just access to the articles is all I need.

Cyclingnews. I've never bothered with Cyclingtips. Yes, content is going downhill. My main beef is I am reading something on wielerflits in morning and then later in day some hack translation appears in CN. Minimal original content.

I also subscribed to Cyclingtips. $7.99 per month. Otherwise you are limited to number of articles you can read. Everything I read is online now. Print editions are fading out....

Can one get around the CT paywall (5 article limit) by going incognito? I use that for a number of newspaper sites. Hate having to sign up just to read news, even if it is free. At first glance CT content looks better than CN, I like the current interview w/ Betsema.
