201 positives since Jan 1 according to WADA. So what's up with this? Is it a doping epidemic or is it ludicrous that it's on doping list?

WADA is reviewing the half-life of the drug. Maybe people who took it before the Jan 1 ban but still have it in their body might be exonerated. BS

What are the metabolites (breakdown products)? Like Tyler Hamilton's borrowed red blood cells, it may be possible to understand when a drug was last taken.

Wiki has information on the drug: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meldonium
According to news reports, the manufacturer said the half-life is 4-6 hours, but traces could remain for months depending on the individual, the duration of taking the med, and the dose taken. Some of the the affected athletes stated that they just did not realize it was added to the list (oops).
