has to pay $5M to the Feds and $1.67M to Flandis. I reckon the Feds spent well over that in the prosecution of this case.

I read that Floyd's lawyer gets paid off in addition (the lawyers always get paid, bloodsuckers).
But how much does Floyd get?

Probably cost LA and friends roughly the same.

Best part is, he get's to see his money go to Landis. He can claim this settlement is a win. but that's going to stick in his craw a long time.

I was in Austin a couple of weeks ago - fantastic city - and stuck my head in Mellow Johnnie's, LA's bike shop. Just off the "Lance Armstrong bike path" in the heart of the city. Basic big bike shop plus a coffee shop. And 7 framed yellow jerseys up high (out of reach of graffiti), and some cool retro racing bikes.

I thought about asking the staff if they sell LeMond bikes but held my tongue.

Ben, not sure I agree. He basically keeps his fortune and the wolf is no longer at the door. He has more money than all of us put together x 10 (not counting goatroper), keeps his hill country ranch, etc. His reputation is actutally enhanced by putting this behind him. Watch for cameos in the future.

Thank you cyclingnews.com Fllandis gets 1.65m.
Everybody has a price.
If I cheated to win the Tour and was disqualified in discrace, rejected by my family for hubris, and found a niche in the Colorado weed industry, that sum might ease my pain quite a bit.

But I'm not Floyd.
I hope he finds peace.
What about Greg, Frankie and his wife?

Uhhhh...I put that amount in the OP!!! But some of that (most?) goes to Flandis’ lawyers.

Definitely a win for 7....while I am surmit hurts, he isn’t crippled and his rehab efforts are beginning to get traction. He’ll be just fine.

Ok, the $1.65 M is just for Flandis’ legal fees. But hens still get a piece of the $5M.

As the originator of the whistleblower lawsuit, Landis stands to be awarded up to a quarter of the settlement. Armstrong’s lawyer, Elliot Peters, told The New York Times that Armstrong will cover Landis’s legal costs, which tallied $1.65 million.

Of course the blood sucking lawyers get their fat cut. Death, taxes and lawyer’s fees.

I love a good Goatroaper reference. Goatroaper, Fuzzball - those were good times . . .

Who was Goatroper? And Fuzzball? And Ambling Rose? I never knew.

And LongSlowDistance, I went to Mellow Johnny's last summer too. Did you go downstairs to see the full museum of bikes? Was really neat to see the very same bikes that he rode in the Tours. Must have been a slow day because I was all alone down there, but I'm sure there were plenty of cameras on me!! Got to see the 5900 frame that Iban Mayo ran over in the 2003 Tour while interviewing at Trek a few years back. Part of history.

Missed the museum. My wife had little interest in a bicycle shop so I did not explore. You’ve given me an excuse to go back to Austin, which I would welcome. Fantastic city. We saw Jerry Jeff Walker give his annual birthday show at the Paramount - just lucked into being there. Bluebonnets were blooming.
Goat roper was a fake forumite from the Velonews tech talk forum days who had us all envying his gentleman cyclist lifestyle in Tuscany, followed by his long tragic illness and eventual demise to cancer, maybe it was melanoma. The final post was after his fake death by his “wife”. Very moving. Eventually the whole thing was outed as a fraud. But it was a really good fraud.
