For me its the birds finally making nests in all the crazy birdhouses at my house that the previous owner made by hand. Also -- finally had enough light to get in a pre-work morning ride 5:55 - 6:30 am -- love those hill reps!!! Seriously I really do. strange.... Giro starts soon! Wohooooooooo!!!!

Spring seems so far away.....although we did hit mid-70's on Sunday and I even got a little sunburn.

But all this week we are back down into the 50's and only the mid-40's for this weekend.

Luckily, I'll be in Scottsdale Fri-Weds and am shipping my bike out today.
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

the weekend of the time change is spring in my mind. of course that was the weekend i broke my foot so i've had plenty of time to sit on the porch and watch the leaves go from barely perceptible buds to enough leaves to block my view of the street. we also have quite a few bird houses so we have lots of new neighbors. the sparrows stay busy all day feeding the nest. this is the first time we've had a few crow's nests. i can't wait to do some hill repeats but more likely it will just be 'hill' with no 'repeats' for a while.
How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives.

The sign of spring around here is the sudden crowding of the Sammamish River trail on the evening commute. The trail on which I can cruise all winter is suddenly full of every outdoor pursuit imaginable. All good even if I do have to slow down a lot and it makes me get off the trail and ride the hills anyway. Sightings of the fully-faired recumbent guy (the yellow bullet bike), GrantPeterson-poncho guy, dancing-roller-skate lady and the dude on that 3-wheeled-weaving contraption have been made.

Usually I can take the headlights off the bike by mid-May.

Looking forward to the new bike in a week or more likely 3.  No hurry though cuz it's still pretty rainy and I'm on the rain bike anyway.

My ferns are chest high already. They came with the property at the edge of my lawn. I like them, so let them intrude into the lawn. Later I decided to go no lawn. They took over. I love it! Our cat loved those ferns too. She was buried at the edge of them but the edge moved. I think she is right where she belongs, surrounded by ferns.

Although it snowed Saturday morning, the snow is getting close to being melted away enough for trails to open up and be rideable in Whistler. Plus driving to Vancouver this AM I saw the first bear of spring. It is here. Going to Moab for a couple weeks anyway because it is still frickin' wet here and I crave some warmth and dry weather.

The blue birds are back, and this morning it was light enough at 5:15 to run without a headlamp. Still need lights for morning rides since they start aroung 4:45.

Chinook, Which part of the Sammamish River trail do you ride? My commute will take me between the Burke and the North Creek, once I start commuting.

I ride the Redmond to UW Bothell section. Then follow the fractured network of paths and streets up across 228th just south of Bothell-Everett Hwy.

OK, so you are in Canyon Park.  So am I.  I am up the hill on 30th Drive at SonoSite.

If you have seen a guy in a wheelchair going down 30th and up 228th toward 45th, that is me.
