Well, well, well. My first experience. About 2PM on a weekday. On Tramway heading south (edit, oh yeah, on my bike!). What that is, is a four lane road with a center island, and speed limits between 45 and 50, and TONS of cyclist. A woman, looking to be late 60's/early 70's is going about 15 mph with her hazards on and window open, weaving, as other cars dodge her. She was heading right at me in the very wide shoulder in slo mo, so I moved over, and she veered away. I called 911, and it rang about 30 times. By the time they answered she was out of sight. Apparently, they had just gotten a call on her, as she had driven into a light pole.

Autonomous cars can't come soon enough. They are incredibly important as the average age of our population continues to get older but don't have anything near the infrastructure needed to help these people. It's a sad situation. So many drivers are simply too old to be driving but what options do they have, especially in rural and smaller towns? The answer is none besides calling a cab every time they have to go somewhere and cabs are pretty hard to come by. And expensive too!! Big, big mess.

Clogging up the interstate today in the right lane (glad it wasn't the left lane) was a Chevy HRR getting ready for the exit. Really no way around since we were headed for the same exit-- long off ramp then a longer merge lane; one lane wide. When we got clear and passed I glanced over to see a tiny told lady with a death grip on the steering wheel.

Yup, self driving cars need to happen ASAP. Glad you didn't get nailed and hopefully her light pole episode will get her driving privileges revoked.

My only problem with autonomous cars is that they likely won't allow you to travel at warp speed.

Cause 99 miles per hour baby,
Is how fast that I like to go.

... I called 911, and it rang about 30 times. ...

Maybe the 30 rings were because 2 dozen other good citizens were trying to get through for the same thing.

wow Nick, just saw this story, you are lucky, someone was killed on that road a couple of years ago, head on, wrong way driver, more towards I-25 though
Used to love that ride, but Tramway Blvd can be very dangerous all around, and especially on the way down to I-25
one of the big reasons I believe, is, sure the limit is 50mph, but everyone is moving more like 70, and Albq. drivers are just bad, well, and Santa Fe is even worse!!

Yeah Gonzo, I've seen that ghost bike on the way up many times. I live near one in town too. See it a lot.
