Friend and I are signing up for this (Alps version) for 2015 for our 50th. There's 5 to 9 to a team so we'll happily welcome fellow fools. Only 355 days left to train. Early bird savings till Sep 15: http://www.hauteroute.org/

Chinook - there are three options: basic (group accomodation, not much else), 2* (single or 2- person room with breakfast provided) and Exec (pampered). Still gotta talk to my friend before signing up but I am thinking 2*. Also still gotta clear medical waiver, haven't seen my doc in ages :-)

RideOn - trip of a lifetime I don't know; hard to beat the experience of digging your car out of a sand bank in middle of Saharan desert. But punishment of a lifetime for sure and hardest thing I'd do on two wheels ever.

Very cool if only I wasn't a ski bum. Take me forever to save for that. Way to go OC.

This event gets plugged really hard in the UK, the global hot spot for cycling as the new golf

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/active/recreational-cycling/11096970/Could-you-survive-a-cycle-stage-race.html

Got the blood work done early morning surrounded by masses of grey hair having their checks done. Not eating for 10hrs sucks as a cyclists. But the Joke Board at the Medical Lab contains the best jokes I've read, well since last time I paid them a visit.
