Andre Greipel roared to his second stage win of this year’s race today, once again ending up in the race leader’s jersey as a result. The time bonus gained lifted him above Martin Kohler (BMC Racing Team), who had moved to the top of the overall standings yesterday thanks to the time bonuses he gained on the road to Stirling.
Today’s stage was marked by a break of four riders, who rode hard to try to open a sufficient lead. Their efforts to stay clear until the end didn’t pay off due to chasing by riders such as Stuart O'Grady (GreenEdge, pictured), but Thomas de Gendt (Vacansoleil DCM) moved to fourth overall and scooped the King of the Mountains jersey as a result of being in the move.
