US Pro champion Timmy Duggan to ride for SpiderTech-C10 in 2013

American rider to transfer to Canadian team from Liquigas-Cannondale

Timmy DugganTeam SpiderTech C10’s bid to grow the team has received a sizeable boost with the news that the current US national pro champion Timmy Duggan has signed up to compete for the squad in 2013.

Duggan is having his best season to date, riding with considerable strength in the service of his Liquigas – Cannondale team leaders in the Tour of California, soloing to victory in the US national championships and also being part of the US road racing team for the Olympic Games.

Having competed for Liquigas Cannondale in the past two years and Garmin-Slipstream prior to that, he will now move to the up and coming Canadian Pro Continental team.

“I’m thrilled to join Team SpiderTech in 2013,” he said, responding to the news. “I already know a bunch of the guys on the squad so it’s a comfortable move and this is a team that’s really on the way up. Steve (Bauer) has accomplished a lot at the highest level of the sport so for me there is no doubt about the team’s quality of leadership and passion for winning.”

Amongst the riders he is familiar with are his compatriots, including Lucas Euser, Caleb Fairly and Pat McCarty.

The team has secured a new three year commitment from SpiderTech, and is seeking to build the strength of its roster. It has a long-term aim of riding the Tour de France, a race previously led by its owner Steve Bauer. It also wants to become a WorldTour team by 2014. .

“I’m very excited to welcome Timmy aboard,” said Bauer. “Timmy rides with panache which has earned him the respect of legions of fans around the world and his scrappy, exciting style aligns perfectly with our vision of winning races and drawing in new fans.

“We’re especially excited to match Timmy’s U.S. national road champion jersey with Ryan Roth’s Canadian national road champion jersey as Team SpiderTech has truly become an international squad with a growing global fan base,” he added. “We’ve had a great 2012 and are excited about 2013 with some real fireworks ahead.”

The team indicates that it will announce more good signings in the next few weeks
