Thursday, April 23, 2009 Impey to return home to South Africa by VeloNation Press at 11:00 AM EST   comments Categories: Pro Cycling, Press Release   Daryl Impey is recovering from his terrible crash at the Tour of Turkey and will head home to South Africa on Saturday. Impey was brought down in a high-speed crash in the final kilometer but bravely finished the stage and won the overall classification of the Tour of Turkey. "I'm going to have to be patient and it's a pity I can't ride the Giro d'Italia but I'm determined to come back as soon as possible and as strong as ever," Impey wrote in an email from Istanbul. He will fly to Johannesburg on Saturday on a special flight that will allow him to travel lying down because of the injuries he suffered in the crash.
