Italian's Pietro Caucchioli (Lampre) and Francesco De Bonis (Diquigiovanni) have been suspended by their respective teams. Lampre and Diquigiovanni took action after an announcement earlier in the day by the UCI that they will begin disciplinary procedures on five cyclists based on fluctuations in their biological passport. In addition to the two Italians, three Spaniards were also named by the sports governing body - former world champion Igor Astarloa, Ruben Lobato and Ricardo Serrano.
