Fracondo Lionel Bazzi is the new Argentinean road cycling champion, after previously crowned Pablo Brun was found positive for nandrolone. Brun was retroactively suspended starting May 4, 2009. The national championships were held on March 22. Brun also has to return his bronze medal from the individual time trial.

Brun's doping suspension is for two years, according to wielerflits.nl. He finished seventh in the Giro del Sol San Juan in January.

For Bazzi, receiving the medal in this way, more than eight months after the event, may not be very satisfactory. He beat Ricardo Escuela (who rode for Team Type 1 until May of this year) and Gerardo Luis Fernandez. Bazzi also finished third in the Tour de Santa Catarina, Brazil.
