Alessandro Spezialetti is moving from LPR Brakes-Farnese Vini to the Lampre Farnese Vini team for 2010. The 34-year-old is a very valuable and loyal team helper and will bring great strength to the Italian team.

His general manager , Giuseppe Saronni, knows what Spezialetti means to the team. "He is a very experienced cyclist, characterized by his never-ending energies as well as his generosity - just what Lampre-Farnese Vini needs for the 2010 season."

The Italian, born Lachen (Switzerland), became a professional cyclist in 1997. His one career win - the Atri stage of the 2001 Giro d'Abruzzo - belies his strength.

He has guided his team captains in nine Giri d'Italia, two Tours de France and one Vuelta a España. That resulted in the overall wins for his respective leaders in 2007 (Danilo Di Luca), 2004 (Damiano Cunego) and 2003 Gilberto Simoni.

The following season shall be no different. "Spezialetti will play an important role in the team," Saronni explained. "His experience will be vital during races, especially when Cunego fights for his main objectives. There is no doubt that Alessandro is always giving his maximum for the team."

Lampre-Farnese Vini made headlines earlier this week after the International Cycling Union (UCI) declined the team’s registration for the 2010 season. Saronni has already vowed to salvage his team’s Pro-Tour status. “I am ready to get to work, as always, to clarify this as soon as possible and ensure that Lampre-Farnese Vini has the place it deserves in the cycling elite,” he told tuttobiciweb.it.
