Contador and team begin preparations in Italy

The Astana team has announced the dates for there first training camp of the season that will be held in Pisa, Italy starting next Wednesday.

The camp is set to take place from 9th to the 16th of December. The riders will be present and will have the first occasion to get to know the new management team that includes manager Yvon Sanquer, and directors Giuseppe Martinelli, Alexandr Shefer, Dimitri Sedun and Guido Bontempi.

Defending Tour de France champion Alberto Contador will be in attendance with the goals of getting to know the new Astana staff and riders, as well as to plan a program that will lead him to a third victory in the Tour. Contador, who began training lightly this past week, is eager to begin working with his teammates on Italian soil. The team said in a press release that Contador is happy to begin his work with the team in Italy, since the former Giro d'Italia winner feels he has a special connection with the tifosi.
