Press Release
The Bissell Pro Cycling Team announces the signing of Rob Britton, Ian Boswell, and Shane Kline to complete the 2010 roster. Rob has had strong results in the elite ranks and 2010 will mark his first year as a pro with Bissell. Ian and Shane will join U23 team members, Cody O’Reilly and Daniel Holloway, to round out the strong youth component on the team.
Rob is a native of Victoria, British Columbia and has had impressive results in Canada including winning the BC Stage Race and finishing 2nd in the BC Provincial TT Championship. Rob caught the attention of team general manager, Glen Mitchell, at this year’s Mt. Hood Classic where he was a major player over the course of the event winning a stage and finishing 5th in the GC. Director, Eric Wohlberg, has been tracking Rob’s progression and says “Rob is a selfless, team-oriented rider who has the ability to win when the situation presents itself. Rob’s particular ability to TT and climb will add to our race day arsenal.”
Ian Boswell is another young and talented prospect who is coming off a promising year riding for the Hot Tubes Development Team. This year, Ian was a member of the USA Junior World Championship Team traveling to Russia and also got great experience in Belgium where he finished 2nd overall at Liege la Gleize. However, it was in the United States where Ian really turned heads. Bissell Team co-leader, Ben Jacques-Maynes, reflects on the first time he saw Ian at the junior race at the Nevada City Classic. “I was impressed with how he rode away from a strong field and won. I was sitting on the side wondering who this guy was”, says Jacques-Maynes. “Then after such a display he jumped in the pro race and hung on the back of the express train which I thought was really impressive.” Ian has dominated junior racing and is sure to be a threat in the future.
Shane Kline will add further support to the team’s crit squad. Shane has a strong track background and finished 3rd in the Madison at this year’s USA Cycling Elite Track Nationals. Shane has also had encouraging results in Bissell’s hometown of Grand Rapids, Michigan where he finished 10th at the 2009 Meijer Grand Cycling Classic. Shane plans to return to Michigan in July to again show off to the crowds at the Meijer Grand Cycling Classic which returns in 2010 as an NRC race.
Bissell 2010 Team:
Ben Jacques-Maynes, Frank Pipp, Andy Jacques-Maynes, Cody O’Reilly, Daniel Holloway, David Williams, Ian Boswell, Jeremy Vennell, Kyle Wamsley, Paul Mach, Peter Latham, Rob Britton, and Shane Kline.
