Belgian's 2010 just got even better

Philippe Gilbert's dream season just got that extra bit better yesterday evening.

The Walloon enjoyed yet another season of significant highs with wins at the Amstel Gold Race, two stages of the Vuelta a Espana, along with his second straights wins at both the Giro del Piemonte and the Giro di Lombardia - all this to go along with marrying Patricia Zeevaert over the summer, and as of yesterday evening: becoming a father.

Speaking to La Derniere Heure, the rider from near Liege announced the birth of his first child.

"I am proud to announce the birth of my son, Alan."

The little Gilbert weighs 3.54 kilograms and measures 54 centimeters long and arrived a week ahead of schedule, but right on time for Gilbert and his wife, Patricia, to enjoy the baby in peace and quiet following a busy year.
