2008 Olympian, Sarah Hammer, will be riding for the newly established U.C.I. professional cycling team, Hawk Relay Cycling. Two-time World Champion Sarah Hammer, has committed to a two year sponsorship agreement which will see her racing in domestic competitions, the Pan-American Championships, World Cups and World Championship events for Hawk Relay Cycling.
Hammer of Temecula, CA is 25 years old and a two-time World Champion in the 3km pursuit as well as a seven-time World Cup gold medalist. She will be joined at Hawk Relay Cycling by 2008 Olympian, Adam Duvendeck, three time National Champion Jimmy Watkins and Canadian Commonwealth Games silver medalist, Travis Smith.
"This is a great day for the Hawk Relay Cycling Team," stated team director Robin Horwitz. "Sarah brings tremendous value to the team. Sponsors and fans like her a lot and she's shown tremendous results in the past with a history of winning at the World level. I know with the private sector sponsorship and a superior support system for the next 4 years, she'll be standing on the top of the podium at the London Olympics."
Hammer will be working with an extraordinary coaching team led by 2008 U.S. Olympic head-track cycling coach, Andy Sparks. The coaching staff will also include Hunter Allen, CEO of Peaks Coaching Group and owner of CyclingPeaks Software and Dr. Marcus Elliott of p3 who will be partnering with the Hawk Relay Cycling Team to focus on cycling-specific scientific methods of strength development.
"I am excited to help build this revolutionary high-performance team as I look to the 2012 Olympic Games," said Hammer. "I am thrilled to not only have industry experts such as Hunter Allen and Marcus Elliott on board with this project but equally excited to have motivated and talented teammates that share a similar mindset and goal. Together with Hawk Relay in the coming years, I think the three of us will be able to do some great things on and off the bike."
