The 41-year-old Spaniard decided to add two more seasons

Iñigo Cuesta is 41 years old and when the Cervélo TestTeam stopped at the end of 2010, Cuesta also put an end to his long career. As announced by wielerflits.nl today, Cuesta decided to sign a two-year contract with Spanish Professional Continental team Caja Rural.

Cuesta started 17 years ago with Euskadi. Spanish team Once, the Linda McCartney squad, Cofidis, Saunier Duval, CSC and Cervélo are other teams he raced for during his ling career. Last year he raced the Vuelta a España for the 17th time.

Cuesta often raced in the service for the team, which is why he was a popular addition to any squad. Still, he had some good results, such as a fifth place overall in the 2008 Tour de Georgia or a seventh overall in the 2006 Deutschland-Tour. His biggest win was the 1998 Vuelta al País Vasco.

While Cuesta outranks Team Leopard's Jens Voigt in age, he's still nearly half a year younger than Italian Andrea Noè (Farnese Vini-Neri Sottoli).
