Fabio Baldato has signed on to the Lampre squad as a team director for 2009. 2008 was the Italian's last year as a professional where he rode for the Lampre team. His best result of the year was a respectable 10th place in Paris-Roubaix - the same result he had in 2007.
The forty-year-old was born in Lonigo, Italy and had been a professional rider since 1991 with 42 professional victories to his credit.
Having won stages in each of the Grand Tours throughout his career, Baldato has his best success in the 1993 Giro d'Italia taking 3 stage wins in his home tour.
