Idle golf question/LBL?

This is a leftover niggling question I have from somebody's posts, I assume CK's, comparing various cycling feats to golf phenomena.

As I recall, winning Liege-Bastogne-Liege was compared to hitting a hole in one. Well, I've actually done that (not won LBL, mind), and wonder whether any other of the VN crew have?

I note that my Hn1 was a 220 yard hole (par 4), hitting 3 wood with the intention of lying up before the bunker rather than trying to carry to the green. a nice tailwind did the deed, mostly.

IMHO it's apples and oranges. I golf also, I once hit the pin on a par 3. Playing 9 after work with some coworkers. One of my coworkers used to caddie at Bethpage Black when he was young. He thought it dropped down the pin into the hole. Alas it wound-up 3 ft. off the green.

I believe that all of us that golf. Need to have a "Intergalactic No Holds Barred Cage Match" to settle this!

Yeah, golf's a wierd sport, all right. Epically boring to watch, endlessly fascinating to play.
