Search dog helps zoo save turtles

Fun article. A Rhode Island search dog is trained to find turtles so researchers can map their migratory patterns and hopefully improve their survival rate. (Loss of habitat, poachers and road crossings are their biggest issues.)

I remember years ago riding rural Michigan, coming across a turtle crossing the road and picking it up to get him to the other side. (He did NOT like it! Did all he could to rake my fingers off his shell. Fortunately his legs were so short he could just barely reach them.) Now, that outfit in RI is asking us formally to offer that assistance.
