The splash of early-season colour and sunlight that was the Santos Tour Down Under came to an end today in Adelaide, giving photographers one last chance to capture the riders through the lens prior to their travel to Europe and elsewhere.
The early season race was arguably the most successful edition yet, with huge crowds, strong media coverage, unpredictable racing and a rejigged course which saw two riders deadlocked on time heading into the final stage.
For home fans, the atmosphere was further heightened by the presence of the new GreenEdge UCI ProTeam, which did something the Sky and Leopard Trek squads were unable to do in their debut seasons, namely secure victories in the opening weeks of racing.
