No French sanctions for Armstrong

The French anti-doping agency (AFLD) said Friday that it would not take any disciplinary action against seven-time Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong.

Last month Armstrong was visited by an AFLD official for an out of competition drug test. The test itself was not the question, but whether the official had the authority to take samples from Armstrong.

The complications arose when Armstrong, with the officials permission, went to take a shower while team manager Johan Bruyneel checked on the credentials. The 20 minutes were put into serious question in a report by the AFLD, and with the rocky past between the rider and the agency, Armstrong speculated the worst.

It turns out that "Showergate" was just a small bump in the road as the Texan prepares for his bid at and eighth Tour de France victory in July.
