Tyler Farrar (Garmin) will not be starting today’s 12th stage of the Vuelta A Espana, where it takes the peloton from Almeria to the top of the steep Alto de Velefique.
The American, who won the 11th stage in Caravaca de la Cruz will concentrate on the World Championships that take place on the 27th of September in Mendrisio, Switzerland.
“The stage win yesterday was the ideal farewell gift to the Vuelta. Tyler not starting had already been planned,” Director Sportif Johnny Weltz told Het Laatste Nieuws.
The 25 year old sprinter will now return to his homeland in preparation of the World Championships.
