Yeah, I saw that on BikeRadar yesterday. As it turns out, my patent for the "rear-view camera system for bicycles" was issued on Feb. 4th, 2014. Only took 5 years! While I'm still listed as inventor, I had to sign over ownership to the company. Things haven't worked out for a multitude of reasons so the doors are closing, thus leaving the patent in limbo. Pretty sad and to be honest, quite devastating to me personally. I would love to chaulk it up to being a great learning experience but the pain of seeing all my hard work and sacrifice go down the drain is simply too much to take.

You were just a 5 years ahead of your time. happens all the time with tech.
Our company invented the precursor of Wimax (which is itself in some ways a precursor of LTE). I think the military ended up with that technology. It was a fun and stressful 6 years as it sounds like it was for you.

Yeah its funny how these things go with tech.
Couple of buddies of mine were involved in "talk to the internet" technology, voice recognition, smart database searches etc. real cool stuff. Sold it to AOL for a good chunk of dough and are still reaping the rewards. Of course, soon after smart phones started hitting the market and talk to the internet became redundant instantly. That's AOL market vision for you.
It might have been fail otherwise as the voice recognition could not handle my fat dutch accent; did some dry runs on the software :-)

'fat dutch accent' hmm... more than just an accent? But, off course, I am pretty thick

Aww Evan, man. I am so sorry to hear that.
Hopefully the industry gig is taking some of the sting out of it. But DAYUM...
