I'd like to bring myself into the 21st century with the longer sleeved(race sleeve), short-sleeved jerseys, but don't want to spend more than $100, preferably less - and something that will last through more than a couple wash cycles. I've looked at The Black Bibs online clothing store. I may try one of those, but wanted to ask if any of you have any other suggestions. Thanks!

Thanks Dale. I think somebody mentioned the site before and I'd forgotten.

You can usually get Le Col jerseys for about that price when you find them on sale and combine it with a discount code from Strava. I got their Pro Aero jersey for ~$105, I think and been very happy with it.

Heard good things about NeoPro stuff, but no direct experience.

Ben laughs. He's just spent the day removing himself from said century. Finishing up builds, wiping clean then first coat of glue (Tubasti). All stuff that could have been done a century before that last one.

So where's my wool jersey?

I’m wearing it. It’s a beautiful red, yellow, black and reads TI Raleigh. My speed isn’t high enough to make those newfangled aero jerseys worth my $. Although they do look cool.

I'm not fast or wealthy enough.

I remember getting a couple of jerseys from Brandt-Sorenson a decade ago for $50 bucks a piece. Don't even bother looking at their prices now - $500 average. It is all so out of whack now. Fu@k. This sport becomes more pretentious by the season.

Dale -

The Neopro jerseys fabric looks thin(as in semi-transparent) in the photos, is that your experience?

Thanks

I'm assuming you are laughing at the description of the le Col jersey? Most jerseys that have the sleeve design you moted (basically down to the elbow) are gonna fall into the an "aero" design / style.

Im thinking he was laughing at fact that it takes combination of sale and discount code to get a price that’s marginally reasonable.

Marginal gains?!

I'm going with O.C. on this.

The prices, yes, they are comparable to many of the high-end market, BUT, the fact they had an "indoor" jersey for $165 was laughable. And one of their cheapest outdoor jersey was a big advertisement for them.

I like aero. That's what I'm looking for.

It just appears everyone, in every sector has gotten way beyond greedy.

Not laughing at you - especially since your daughter is an F1 fan. Admirable.

le Col has frequent sales and discoutn codes are easy to obtain....unfortunately, le Col is one of those companies following the trend of setting very high "normal" prices, but having frequent / regular discounts.

Hate this trend....but when you can take advantage of it, you can get great kit for a very reasonable price.

This aspect of retailing is annoying and it's one of the things that contributed to the cascading downfall of Sears. Nobody would buy unless there was a sale and one came over couple of weeks.
Pity you if you needed something in the off week. Congratulations, you just got hosed.

Just price it fairly and let me buy when I want to.
Closeout? Black Friday? ...I'm ok with a couple sales a year but don't make me play some version of a coupon queen to pay a reasonable price for a jersey.

I keep coming back to Voler jerseys and bibs. Their stuff fits me well, lasts me a long time and their prices aren't as crazy as other brands. Also manufactured in the US if that matters to you. They have some of their Velocity jerseys on sale right now for $77 (normally $119).

As for F1, I've been an open wheel racing fan since I was a little kid. I love F1 but it's gotten very challenging to watch. 7 years of dominance by Mercedes and now Red Bull is so far in front of the rest of the field. They need to figure something out to bring some parity and make it less predictable. The Indy car series is great these days. Lots of different winners. But the cars and drivers aren't nearly as interesting.
