Figure this is the place to ask
Do you put chamois cream in just your shorts, just on your skin or both ?
Me ? I always just do skin. Not sure why. I guess I get it just where I need it and not all over. There are only a few spots I actually need it. |

I always put the cream (I just use Bag Balm and usually only for longer rides or if I sense the need) on me. But I always use the shorts in addition! (Legal consequences) Ben |

When I use it (100 miles or more) I load up the chamois and spread on skin, including crotch. Love that slippery feeling. Much better than raw skin at the end! |

A tip for organized rides. At dinner grab a WetNap, Towelette or Moisture Wipe (or whatever is offered. Put it by the opening to your tent. Next morning, on the way to the head, breakfast or the ride, apply the cream, wipe off and head out, tossing the WetNap in the first trash can that comes along. Easy, clean and done. Ben |

Even in the days of natural chamois I couldn't put slimy goop on and feel comfortable. Hang dry the shorts, rough up the chamois as much as possible before putting on the shorts and then ride... after 10 minutes the leather would be nice and soft and I wouldn't be sitting in a puddle of slime. |

i usually put it on my shorts. i change into the shorts in the parking lot so it's easier to rub it on the shorts and if i rubbed it on my skin i might get carried away and get arrested. it also keeps the cream from getting on my hands. mentholated cream would be bad if i rubbed my eyes. |

Used it back in the natural chamois days -- haven't needed it in years. |

5+ hour ride or if it's raining heavy I'll use some Bag Balm, other than that don't need it |

I smear it on me. That way it only goes on the parts of the chamois that are going to rub. Here's a tip for ya: always smear the crotch lube on 1st, THEN the warm embrocation on your legs! |

I'm sorry, but there are just so many things wrong with your statement, laurentja. I smear it on me. So it only goes on the parts that are going to rub the chamois. Always smear your crotch first then the warm embrocation smears your legs. Sounds like some sleazy paper back book from the 40's/50's. Oh wait, that was my reading of your post. Sorry |

I prefer to go direct drive. I use less that way, with the same effect, and it stays where I put it instead of getting smeared on my legs as I pull my bibs up. We got a boatload of DZNutz a couple of years ago in a trade deal and I'm a hopeless addict now.
