These are so cheap. I might buy one just to see what they are. A few off roaders give them good reports. Makes one wonder why some lights cost what they do.

Oldfart, what are those, stolen? Non-functioning knockoffs? Some new Canadian gold strike which affected your currency?
Either that or niterider is scamming everyone.

Gosh I don't know. Sometimes things are too good to be true. And you can't trust a skinflints review of anything as their only measure of value is how little it cost. Niterider's are about $350 I think for a 1500 lumen light. Last year I dropped a battery and it broke and the replacement was worth almost as much as a new light. then another of my lights became unreliable. Sometimes it took a fair bit of fiddling to get it to turn on. Plug and unplug, wiggle wiggle then it would go an be fine. Then it started to die early but the battery was old. So I decided to try a Gemini 1500 lumen duel bulb set up. Been stellar so far. $240 and the light head is really small and lightweight which is far better for helmet mounts. I find the heavier Niterider gives me a sore neck during the first bunch of night rides of the season but the little Gemini is barely noticeable.
On the other hand Niterider and the local distributor have been very good to me in dealing with problems. Once a light went missing all summer and came back not fixed but that then was dealt with expediently. But for $32 one can simply throw away a light that gets all recalcitrant.

I go for brightness, but not 1500 lumens - that is nuts. I have a NR MiNewt 600 for the bars and Cygolight 450 for the helmet. It makes a huge difference to have a helmet light because it allows you to look around and actually see things. Plus the nite rider is wide angle and the cygo is narrow, so they complement each other. I use both full brightness since most of my ride is on unlit roads and paths. Lots of animals out in the night - deer, raccoons, fox, rabbits, etc. Good to see them early before they run in front of you. Amazing, too, how many runners there are out there at 5am wearing BLACK clothing! one guy I just saw two little spots ahead of me. Thought it was a cat or raccoon. Nope Runner - shoe spots. He was standing still on the trail and that was all I could see until I was 50 feet from him. idiot.
I only use the handlebar light in strobe mode in daylight. That is gets drivers attention when they are pulling out of driveways. Pretty much the only use for it.
Those cheapos shown above are probably ok lights, but probably the same quality of the $5.00 headlamp I bought at Home depot - light is ok, everything else (enclosure, headband, etc) is total crap so I never use it. Rather use the $50.00 one I got at REI. Stays on the noggin!

Just saw this:

A very good snapshot of all the options available right now.
