New KMC quicklink won't relax...

This is the second KMC quicklinks in so many weeks that I have tried in my Campagnolo 10-speed chain and I can't get it to relax -- it comes out of the derailleur slightly kinked and can cause a skip on the gears. It is fully in the locked position, have never had an issue using the appropriate 10-speed quicklink on my SRAM bike. Will this loosen? I have been manually pressuring the chain sideways and seems to loosen where I can freely move the links, but it will resume the slight kinking and occasional skipping once I get riding again. Any help appreciated.

What lube are you using? I've considered using diesel fuel but haven't tried it yet.

I've used KMC quick links on my Campy ten speed chains with no problems. Maybe you have a defective link. You might consider using a ten speed connecting pin for Campy chains.

Most quick links are directional…make sure you have it installed the right way.

Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

"Most quick links are directional…make sure you have it installed the right way." KMC quick links for Campag are non-directional. I believe also for Shimano and SRAM.

CK- Diesel is just a petroleum distillate. It also has additives that prevent corrosion. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diesel_fuel smokey

I get that….but that doesn’t make it a good lubricant for a chain necessarily. Honestly have never even heard it suggested before as a chain lube.

I'd be surprised is any of the top pros are doing anything other than waxed chains.

It's fine - just needed a break in ride, and YES it was fully seated to begin with. The chain is barely used but 22 years old - a Campagnolo Record 10 chain. Maybe there was a slight variation between then and the next version of 10 if there was one...
