Has everyone stopped riding or stopped checking the forum?

I still check every day. Riding less but I went out for 50 yesterday on the Mooney fixed. (Easy 42-18. Bike felt great. I felt it!)

It's been a relief not to waste the hours and hours I previously spent here perusing the hundreds of posts and thousands of responses ; )

Finally able to catch up on my life.

Still my favorite forum

"Has everyone stopped riding or stopped checking the forum?"

Stopped checking. Its been fun but critical mass is now gone, hence the so quiet.

Flipping to the front page, the last news articles were from Sunday, February 16, 2014, something about Kimmage, Verbruggen and McQuaid. So this site has been running on fumes for 10 years now.

Cheers lads, and bon voyage, preferably using two wheels.

OC, best wishes, I hope you keep us in your loop. I t's old news that the front page was frozen in time many years ago, and some kind soul has kept our quiet little chat place free from the psychos that spewed and haunted here many years ago, and continue on critical mass sites (critical mass = radioactive). I for one will miss your Dutch hard guy ride reports from the exquisitely beautiful and occasionally rainy place you live. Or from your European hard guy epics, great stuff, thanks!

I still check on the forum regularly. Too quiet but still sane.

I'm still riding though less. Walking, often with 25# on my back is my new thing as I have been observing that that 200+k miles I've ridden haven't helped my bone density or resistance against breakage. Also that soon or later I was going to trip, slip or fall due to inadequate foot and ankle strength and dexterity.

The weight doesn't sound like much but OC knows I don't have a lot of brawn up top and my many shoulder and collarbone injuries mean carrying just that is real I feel those walks big time. Weightlifting helps and those walks help my weightlifting so that's good.

Hoping this site hangs out a little longer. (Another very belated thanks to Keith Richards!)

Thanks LSD, likewise the conversations have been good stuff.

Ben - drink lots of milk, take it from a Dutchman.

Hitting logout in the next minute; no idea what my password for this site is; I don't think I logged out in all those years. Cheers.

My challenge is the my body feels far better not touching that milk stuff in my form.  (Well, the cultured stuff; cheese and yogurt aren't as bad but after I went off those I felt a real notch better.)  It is pretty obvious that I am to some degree lactose intolerant.  I always hated drinking cold milk.  Dreaded meals at my best friend's because they had a farm. "Milk" was unpasteurized medium cream with an inch of fat at the top of the bottle.  My breakfast every day of my first 23 years was dry cereal and milk.  Joined and apartment where the deal was that you had to join and work at the food coop.  They had yogurt and granola, not cereal.  I felt better overnight than I ever had.

My GP of the past seven years tried to get me off the cultured stuff from early on.  When I finally did, it was another (though considerably smaller) "wow!"

I check the forum once and awhile. At age 81 I think my riding days are over. I purchased a Trek Domane ebike in 2020. Riding is just not the same anymore. I can't scoot up the hills without electric motor assistance. I miss it terribly. I have dreams all the time about riding. My excercise now is walking my labrador retriever around my neighborhook for 45min-one hour walks. I came to this forum when it was called Tech Talk. I purchased my Colnago Master X-Light in 2002 with help some guys on the forum. I hangs in my garage and I park my pick up truck under it. I sit and gaze at it and remember all the good rides I had with it. A big chunk of my life is gone. I had a couple of bad crashes over the years but always managed to get back on my bike. Keep the rubber side down and be careful.

Thanks zoot. I've been here for some of your crashes. Done enough of my own that I "get it". Keep stopping in here when you think about it.

I hope to follow my mom. She stopped riding after her bad crash when she was 85. (Never felt she could ride fast enough to feel safe in traffic after that.) That's 15 years away for me.

I guess the problem with the forum is that it is a long lost group from an old forum and no new members are allowed. How long have we existed? We’ve gotten old and lost members due to boredom or the afterlife. I haven’t posted much in the last 10 years, but I check in to see the idle banter. It’s unlike any other group as there isn’t any mean posts. Maybe sarcastic Jookey should just poke the bear once in a while so folks can read and comment on my “stoopid” thoughts. Lol
