"If the law supposes that," said Mr. Bumble, squeezing his hat emphatically in both hands, "the law is a ass — a idiot.

No sympathy from me....it isn’t like that drug is something obscure, it was what Alberto got popped for and every athlete knows that they are responsible for what they put in their body, especially drugs.

If he wasn’t smart enough to say “hey, could this prescription be on the banned list?” The. He deserves what he gets....he is lucky it was only 90 days.

Oh, and I don’t buy his story, either.

So did Dickens purposely mess up the "a"'s instead on "an"'s or is that grammatical rule something relatively new?

That's all I want to know.

OC, we need to get a Brit to weight in but it appears he was speaking Cockney

CK, probably right that 90 days is light.

CK, it sounds like he did ask. The doctor said what he prescribed wasn't banned. (And apparently anoter doctor present agreed.) They tried to check with UCI but didn't have cell coverage. (Maybe he made all that up. Maybe he made up the potentially limb threatening infection.)

I spent a couple of hours last week with the OTGG EMT. His specialty was wilderness. I have no doubt he would break any "rule' in a flash to save life or limb. Also that he was the guy I would want on hand if it were me.

UCI has a history of allowing shady back-dated TUEs. Couldn't they allow one that is pretty clear cut? Here is another place where the riders need a really good union. UCI has also often takes months and even years to resolve cases, often apparently so popular riders don't miss important events. How 'bout a November-January ban so he can compete up to the WCs?

Again, I am not sympathetic to his story....let's assume all of the above is true (which I doubt). He couldn't have notified the UCI as soon as he got a cell signal again to say "Hey guys....had a really desperate situation and I couldn't get a signal. Now that I have service I wanted to let you know that I needed to take Probenicid in order to save my leg."

Instead he goes out and tests positive and says "Oh...schitt. I forgot to tell you."

Nope....doesn't pass the smell test for me.
