Good points from JV:
“I find it a little disappointing that people are concerned with or looking for some definitive list because the reality is that if you look at the stats, probably less than one third of riders in the race were even tested for it. I don’t really think the list has any particular validity in terms of who was and who wasn’t.”
“You don’t have to look much further than Tyler Hamilton as a example. He raced the 1998 Tour. He was second place in the time trial to Jan Ullrich and he’s admitted to doping during that period and he wasn’t on the list. It’s a bit of a futile exercise to assume that the guys who are on the list are naughty and the guys not on the list are good. That’s just not understanding the issue and it’s a considerable oversimplification of the issue too,” Vaughters said.

At the risk of oversimplifying (and sounding cynical), you'd be safe to assume that everyone on the start list was doping. They were all naughty. That was the price of admission to the peloton.

If it wasn't about the names but about a scientific study to improve the fight against doping, then why name the names. Why not just say 44 out of 60 tested positive and leave it at that?

If it wasn't just about cycling but about doping in sports in general, then why does this report focus on cycling...again?

Disappointing overall (again), and this guy hits the nail on the head:

When asked if today's news and revelations were to the benefit of the sport, Armstrong replied. "I don't know. I really don't. I'd like to think that there is some good in all this but from my perspective, sitting here today, there has been nothing but damage done to the sport."

when we still have the same people running the sport who were complicit in its corruption, what else can we expect?

And that is complete bullschitt. If they don't have evidence that he used dope to win his medals, they have no basis to strip those titles (or his ROubaix win or anything else). They can strip him of whatever results he may have had from the '98 Tour (although the statute of limitations has long expired on it), but that is about it. You can't extrapolate those tests and say he was doped for other victories (even though he likely was).
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!
