that is cool cosmic!! ICED chains can save 80seconds per hour they claim? whoa.....
when I was in the shop, we would soak the chains and cassettes in Zep Soy Degreaser, we called it the "Soy Sauce", man that stuff worked so good

I always take quoted time savings with a shaker of salt, but there is no doubt that a clean and well-lubed drivetrain is critical for maximum success.
There is a website called Friction Facts that has lots of good data....it is shocking what a dirty drivetrain can cost you!
Just say "NO!" to WCP!!!!

Not to challenge anyone, just for group discussion:
price differential for cleaning gear vs. new chain very often

Of course, there is always the Sheldon Brown process: http://www.sheldonbrown.com/chainclean.html

smokey, there is one caveat. For 9-speed and up chains, you have to replace the outer linkplates and pins with connecting links since you cannot (safely) reuse the pins and plates that were peened in place on assembly. Which takes back to lsd's question re: price difference (and is our labor an expense?)
CK, you do have connections on bulk orders of connecting links, no? Roughly 54 per chain would be needed. But it would certainly be worth it knowing there is one speck of nanosecond costing dirt anywhere. I'm guessing the connectors would add a little weight. But you knows well that in the weight vs drive train friction balance, reducing friction always wins. (Plus that measurable advantage: you would know that you had the fasted chain there.)
