Today's 168 kilometer stage will again suit the sprinters, but the day will have a special meaning to the race and the Italian people. At the finish in Novi Ligure the Giro d'Italia will pay homage to five-time Giro winner Fausto Coppi 50 years after his passing. Coppi's exploits on the bike earned him the title Il Campionissimo, meaning the "Champion of Champions", and the celebration of his life will mark an important moment for the Italian Tour.
